Have a gadget lover in the family but you’re not sure what to give them?
Well, there are a heck of a lot of choices and a lot of times it’ll depend on your budget, but I’ll give you a list of some of the most popular items in a wide range of budgets so you can probably find something they’ll just love in this list but if not I’ll be making more lists very soon.
Top Tech Gift Ideas For Christmas 2009:
iPod Nano / iPod Touch
Sure, a lot of people have iPods already, but the newest versions of the iPod Nano and iPod Touch are worth the upgrade. The iPod Nano has some features that seem pointless to me like the video camera, but it also has an FM radio (finally). It’s a great workout companion – I don’t know what I’d do without mine. The iPod Touch has one huge advantage over all other MP3 players – access to the Apple Apps Store – there is a whole lot of cool stuff there to turn your iPod touch into so much more than just an MP3 player.

TomTom Go 740 Live
Nobody likes getting lost and even if they won’t admit it, a lot of guys would like a GPS. I purchased my first one back in 2005 and it was great. However, with all the features on the new TomTom Go 740 Live I really want to upgrade. It has a lot of features and it’s downright affordale (less than half what I spent on mine a few years ago).
Klipsch Image S4 Earphones
If you actually use your MP3 player to listen to music frequently, you’re going to want to get better earphones than what come packaged with it. Once you get premium earphones, you’ll wonder how you ever survived without them – I’m serious. I keep a spare set of cheap earphones in my laptop bag just in case I forget to grab the good ones plugged into my iPod, but the days when I do forget them are just downright uncomfortable. If you’ve never had a pair of premium earphones, you don’t know what you’re missing out on, but I can guarantee you’ll never go back. Some of the best ones for the money are the Klipsch Image S4 Earphones. They’re comfortable enough to wear all day and the sound quality is amazing – you’ll want to walk around with music in your ears all day.

PS3 Slim
Sure, the PS3 Slim has been around for a while but that price of a PS3 up until this Christmas season has been out of range for some. It’s a great game system and it finally has some games worth buying the system for. And when you factor in the built in Blu-ray player, it’s the best bargain in the game system market at $299.

Amazon Kindle
I have to admit I’m lusting after one of these. It’d be so nice when I travel not to have to find space for a bunch of books. I usually take three or four with me on every trip so I’ve got stuff to read. With capacity for thousands of books, the Kindle would sure save space and it’d be convenient to boot. I’ve never heard anyone who has owned one of these things say anything bad about them and other than one PR snafu this summer, the Kindle has been one of the highest rated products released on the past few years.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1
Here’s a camera I really wish I’d have had when I went snowboarding last winter. I took my Casio Exilim to the mountain one day figuring I’d snap a few group photos. Well, one hard crash in the morning quickly put an end to any such notion. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 is a cool, rugged camera that can take a big of a beating and still keep going. You can get it wet, drop it, or get it dusty and it’ll keep on truckin’ along… not only that – it takes really nice pictures.

Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor
I have a friend with one of these and he loves it. If you know someone who likes to run and likes their gadgets, this is the ultimate gift to give them. The Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS and Heart Rate Monitor will give you plenty of data about your workouts plus it’ll keep track of exactly how far you’ve gone and how long it took you to do it keeping track of your heart rate the entire time – very cool.
